Idea Fab Lab is inviting artist, sculptor, and musician Dave Seied of Denver, Colorado to explore digital fabrication techniques at our 7,000 sq ft facility for a 2 week residency. Using a laser cutter, he will explore the line where art and technology meet. The residency will culminate with a gallery exhibition, running May 4th to June 1st 2013. The exhibition will be a multi-sensory experience, featuring mind-bending geometrically-calculated artworks, robotics and other technological wonders.
The exhibition opening event will be open to the public from 3 pm to 6 pm May 4th. The facilities are located at 603 Orange St. Artworks will be available for purchase. Local jazz sensation, Bogg will be keeping things lively throughout the afternoon.
Dave Seied works with many different types of 3D modeling software to create complex geometric shapes. He is becoming well known for his 3D designs made from custom scripts which he has 3D printed in steel and sandstone. Lately he has been using Rhino3D with Grasshopper and writing custom scripts to unfold his designs for fabrication. He worked as an intern for Marc Fornes and THEVERYMANY, an amazing architectural/computational project, on an installation at The Denver Botanical Gardens.
