Idea Fab Lab invited artist, sculptor, and musician Dave Seied of Denver, Colorado to explore digital fabrication techniques at our 7,000 sq ft facility for a 2 week residency, where he worked with the Idea Fab Labs community to create his digital designs as physical objects. Using a laser cutter, and using a variety of techniques, he explored the line where art and technology meet. Pieces were 3D printed in both stainless steel and sandstone off site. The residency culminated with a gallery exhibition, running May 4th to June 1st 2013.
Dave Seied works with many different types of 3D modeling software to create complex geometric shapes. He is becoming well known for his 3D designs made from custom scripts which he has 3D printed in steel and sandstone. Lately he has been using Rhino3D with Grasshopper and writing custom scripts to unfold his designs for fabrication. He worked as an intern for Marc Fornes and THEVERYMANY, an amazing architectural/computational project, on an installation at The Denver Botanical Gardens.
